2000-2001 Campaign Log: Part 22

It’s been several weeks since the last segment of the annotated log of the first campaign of Strategic Primer, so it’s time for another installment. And there’s only a few more lines left, so at long last, this is the final post in this series!

Player Name Date Unit Attempted Action Result of Action
Julius Caesar 2/27/01 None None. None. Julius invents the pistol, the rifle, the process of distillation of oil, the flamethrower, the grenade, TNT, the gasoline engine, and two types of exploding cannonballs.
George Washington 2/27/01 None None. None. George invents the armored catapult, the armored horse-drawn catapult, the Giant and its parts, the pressurization process, alusteel, the Death Wheel, the Z-36 bomber, the electric engine, and the Alusteel Boostable Plane.

“Alusteel” is technobabble; it might actually make it into the current campaign, but if so it won’t be nearly so easy to invent.

Wellington 2/27/01 None None None. Wellington invents the Mole and receives the secret of the gasoline engine (and the distillation of oil) from Julius Caesar.
Washington 2/27/01 None. Send spies to steal the secret of the Computer Chip from Wellington. Theft of military secrets succeeded.
Julius Caesar 3/5/01 Paratroopers 1 Boost to Arthur Pendragon’s HQ. Bomb it with TNT. Launch successful. Arthur has a Rail Cannon, 9 Riflemen, and 5 Paratroopers in his HQ. Hit.Projectile exploded. Rail cannon has lost 5 HP. Hit.Projectile exploded. Rail cannon lost 5 more HP. Enemy Rail Cannon gone. Hit.Projectile exploded. One Riflemen lost 5 HP. Hit.Projectile exploded. Hit.Projectile exploded. Riflemen lost 5 more HP. Riflemen died. Just missed. Hit.Projectile exploded. Another Riflemen lost 5 HP. Hit.Projectile exploded. Riflemen lost 5 more HP. Hit.Projectile exploded. Riflemen lost 5 more HP. Riflemen died. Hit.Projectile exploded. Another Riflemen lost 5 HP. Just missed.Missed by a long shot.Hit.Projectile exploded. Riflemen lost 5 HP. .Hit.Projectile exploded. Riflemen lost 5 HP. Riflemen died.

That’s where the electronic version of the log ends; the paper copy included in my science fair project report—which is dated March 8 of that year—omits that last attack, but has a last-minute item (entered twice, a la double-entry bookkeeping) hastily added in pencil:

Washington 2/27/01 None None Washington forms alliance with Pendragon, Xenophon, and Roosevelt.
Pendragon 2/27/01 None None Pendragon forms alliance with Xenophon.

And that’s the abrupt end. If there’s interest, I can type the score calculations and post them. And I’ve also found a couple of other fragmentary logs, one from an utterly abortive attempt at a game the following autumn (part of one turn, no more), and the other is one turn plus some resource calculations for what was to be the second turn of a campaign in 2003; if there’s interest I could post those as well.

Any questions, comments, or other thoughts, now that I’ve come to the end of the log of the first campaign?
